DEFINATION OF COMPUTER: -
Compute is an electronic device, which receive the data from the input device as input, process it according to the user's instruction and give the proper information as an output. Computer has a great impact on our day-to-day life. We use it every sector like school, college, office, hospital etc. computer has been derived from the word “compute” which means to calculate. So in simple word computer is considered to be a calculating device that can perform arithmetic and logical operation at high speed.
WHAT IS DATA: -
Data refers to collection of facts in raw form that becomes information after proper processing. It is the raw facts for the information.
WHAT IS PROCESS: -
It is a method by which data is converted into information means performing some action on data.
WHAT IS INFORMATION: -
The processed data is known as information.
CHARECTERSTICS OF COMPUTER: -
SPEED
Computer is a high-speed machine. It can perform every problem in a fraction of second. Speed of computer is measured by MIPS (millions of instructions per second).
ACCURACY
If the input instructions given to a computer are correct, then there is no scope for errors in the tasks performed by a computer.
AUTOMATIC
A machine is said to be automatic because it performs every calculation without a human assistance, so computer is called an automatic machine.
STORAGE
Computer can store huge amount of data in very small space for a long period of time until we delete it from the computer.
DELIGENCE
A computer is free from tiredness.
VERSATILITY
Computers are used in variety of ways, and it can perform more than one job at a time. Ex-one can write an article in MS-word on a computer while listening to online music on the same computer and can take printouts of same documents simultaneously.
LIMITATIONS OF COMPUTER: -
- No I.Q
- No feeling
- Need a special type of language.
- Incapable of checking valid or invalid data.
- Maintenance.
- Need for proper environment.
HISTORY OF COMPUTER: -
The evolution of computer has passed through many stages before it come to the present form. ABACUS (Abundant Bit Addition Calculation Under System). It was the first addition and subtraction mechanical device developed in 3500BC.
NAPIER BONE: - it was developed by john Napier in the year 1617 for the purpose of multiplication and division. Again, develop logarithm table which represent the decimal points to difference sector value.
PASCALS ADDING MACHINE: - A mechanical device introduce by Pascal known as Pascal adding machine in 1642. That machine performed multiplication with repeated addition.
CHARLES BABBAGE: - Charles Babbage developed a working model of computer called as difference engine in the year of 1822. This machine has performed only the arithmetic operation. In the year of 1842 their started another machine analytical engine and this machine was fully automatic as well as it performs the arithmetic and logical operation and data will be inputted to this machine using punched card. Since, Charles Babbage gives birth of computer, so he is called as father of modern computer.
